Poetry for Christians

 Thankful

Thankfulness

Who can object

Who can oppose

thoughts obey

The disciples reflections

The sun rises

creation awakes

anticipating the day

speaking forth

Father's truth

in plain sight

of his creatures

Morning air

flows through

waking the seminal senses

Eyelids ascend

skin meets skin

eyes behold dancing dust

on golden rays

Moment by Moment

Father's watchful eyes

gaze on

the overjoyed disciple

The disciple reflects

turning the faucet

cool water streams

through slender fingers

The disciple possesses everything

yet possesses nothing

clutching lightly to life

Which is his and is not

The disciple's way

guided by the Father's light

falls not into darkness

but joy flowing

from the heart of his reflections

Thankfulness relentlessly floods

every inch, every fiber

of the disciple

The disciple delights

in whispering wind

wafting over skin

Overwhelmed by all

The disciple is thankful

To his Creator

  1. This is a wonderful poem with many soulful lines. The fewer the words in each line, the greater the difficulty. But the difficulty paid off - I'm blessed.

My Christian Journey

Let's start the journey with what was in my head at nineteen years old. I went to Catholic grade school, but it never really was a serious part of my life. However, I could never understand why there were these stairsteps to the Father in Heaven. I reasoned it out like this; Hmmm, there's priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and the pope. Why wasn't it just God, the Father and me. At this point, I did believe in God, but I hadn't thought that much about Jesus.    Well, at nineteen, I was in college, but never really dated much, so when a friend said, I know a girl who would really like to go out with you. I thought, yea, that would be great! We enjoyed going out roller skating on some dates and the others, we enjoyed a night out dancing. After many, many dates, things began to get serious. Now, we were headed into some heavy duty discussions about believing in Jesus as your Savior, God, etc., etc.,     Our talks began with my future wife say...

Creation

Creation unwraps a glistening morning for all to see. Breathlessly, I am waiting with eagerness, ready to put pen to paper in simplicity of the written word. A magnificently wrapped gift, given by an all-loving Father. An onion peeled away day by day, translucent layer by translucent layer.      Time melts, moment unto moment. Steam swirls discipating into invisibility above my brown coffee cup clutched between my fingers. Peering through the streaked window, I watch a gnarly-knotted birch tree swaying in the gentle morning breeze. Smiling, I pause, catching a momentary glimpse of the morning creatures playfully dancing in the morning mist. No thoughts. How pure and perfect!      Morning after morning, evening unto evening, day and night, silent moments of reflection are my soul's exquisite comfort. A blanket of peace cloaks my shoulders with overwhelming calm. All is right, all is good when the Father guides his c...

The Little Red-Haired Girl: My First Love

Where are the words? The perfect words describing a first love.      Reflecting on that day, I was entertaining a pure fantasy, a sincere desire to find a loving heart at the ripe old age of four.      Picture this! Sun streaming through our summer vacation cabin windows while dust dances on the light beams hitting the windowsill. Flinging back the covers, I sat up on the edge of the bed wiping the night-time grit from the corners of my eyes. The smell of yesterday's bacon and eggs still permeating  the air of the cabin bedroom. I grabbed hold of my musty smelling socks sliding them over my shove-like feet. I slowly put on my shirt, pants, and shoes oh so gingerly, tiptoeing past my very comatose parents sprawled out on the hide-a-bed in the corner of the cabin.      I gently swung open the rickety old cabin door stepping down on to the wobbling porch steps one at a time. My destination was the old ramshack...
